The BSOA inaugural meeting marked the commencement of collaboration between 11 hospitals in the mid 1990s who performed complex operative procedures in orthopaedics. Over the years the membership has grown and with it the recognition of areas of excellence in sub specialties of orthopaedics. The BSOA continues to strive to be inclusive and advance education in orthopaedic anaesthetics.
